Your Teacher:

Your teacher has been trained in ESOL at Massey University and has full teaching qualifications including a teaching diploma, a Bachelor of Education degree and a post graduate diploma of second language teaching. She has many years of experience teaching all ages and people from many cultures. Bringing English alive to provide a learning enviroment which is fun and effective.

NZ Rural Life:

The school is situated on a small farm, by a beautiful clear river in the picturesque Kahuterawa valley. There are horses, sheep, cows, chickens, ducks, cats and dogs. Some of the activitities are centered round the farm: four wheel drive tours, mustering, shearing, horse riding, lambing.

The Kahuterawa Valley:

The Kahuterawa valley is a beautiful river valley just a short drive from Massey University and the Palmerston North Square. Palmerston North is a small city with a population of approximately 70,000 people. It is known as the "Knowledge City" for its variety of educational facilities. Many students prefer its quiet learning atmosphere which can be far more personal than the facilities in larger cities such as Auckland and Wellington.

Class Sizes:

Classes will have no more than 12 students, and where possible they will be from a variety of cultures. English will be spoken in class. Your teacher will be kind, helpful understanding so you can landean in a relaxed environment to learn English effectively.

Course content:

The course includes general English (listening, speaking, reading, writing and grammar) on five mornings a week. Morning classes run from 9am to 12 noon. There are extension activities on four afternoons each week, these are designed to help increase fluency and involve speaking and listening to native English speakers while participating in many exciting and interesting activities. Examples are: horse riding, golf, pottery painting, museum visits, Maori marae visits, go karts, jet boating, windfarm visit, wildlife sanctuary visit, windfarm visit etc. Course content and activities are tailoured to the interests and current level of students.

Costs:

There are a variety of different options. You can attend just morning teaching sessions or morning sessions and afternoon activities sessions. You can make your own arrangements for accomodation or you can take advantage of the rural homestay options. Costs of the various options are shown below:

NZ$550/week including board, tuition and most activities.

NZ$350/week Tuition and afternoon activities.
NZ$300/week Tuition only.
NZ$200/week Farmstay board.
