Overview
The online support window is powered by DBabble. The person you chat with
is probably using the DBabble Windows client. As soon as you start
typing something, the DBabble icon in the recipient's system tray be the clock starts flashing and
when the recipient clicks on it a window opens to chat with you. The online support
window only appears in your web browser if the recipient (or at least one member of a
group of users) is online at the time you view the web page. This is a private chat
window and only you and the person you are chatting with can see what you are saying.
Anything typed in these private chats can been seen by the other person as it is being typed to facilitate quick responses.
Setting it up
-
If you are an existing DBabble server administrator
then you can set this
up on your own DBabble server by going to the DBabble server administrator
web browser interface (e.g. http://127.0.0.1:8132/admin)
and clicking on the 'Online Support Setup' link.
-
If you are a user on an
existing DBabble server, you may be able to set this up yourself if your
server administrator has allowed it. If they have,
right click on the DBabble tray icon by the clock, and choose
"State/Online Support/Online Support Setup" and follow the instructions.
-
If you don't have your own DBabble server or client installed
, then you can
still set up your own online support window in your own web pages using our
free sample DBabble server at http://free.dbabble.com.
To do this, download and install the Windows client from that page. After installing it,
right click on the DBabble tray icon by the clock, and choose
"State/Online Support/Online Support Setup" and follow the instructions.
By using the free online support system on our server at
http://free.dbabble.com
you will not be able to customize
the online support window and we have imposed a limit of 10 simultaneous chat connections
in total for all users.
You can avoid both these limitations by installing (and purchasing) your own DBabble
server.
