Hi,

That isn't an error from SurgeMail.  It looks like a sendmail error or 
exchange perhaps.
Make sure you are actually connection to SurgeMail, make sure that an AV 
scanner isn't interferring on the port or some firewall.
Check the surgemail.logs in the log section.
