It sounds like there is something messed up with your flash installation. Su=
rgeweb depends on flash for two things: 
- the audio confirmations - this wil be the flash file at the start failing =
to load
- multifile attachment uploads with progress indicator in the Ajax interface=
.. 

I know this definitely works on 3.0.10 which I am personally currently runni=
ng but should work on any of the 3.x firefox builds.

Try uninstalling the flash plugin and reinstalling that from scratch and let=
 me know how you go.

I was noticing the problem before in Safari on OS X prior to the latest syst=
em update to 10.5.7 but it now works fine on the Mac in both Safari (4.0beta=
) and Firefox (3.5b4). Neither FF 3.0.9 or 3.5b4 works on Vista SP1. I get t=
he above error adding the attachment. If I switch to Basic mode, it works fi=
ne. 
 
Surely I'm not the only one to have seen this? I've checked in the archives =
and hadn't seen any other mention of this problem, so I suspect we've got so=
mething poorly configured or have just the right HW combo to trigger it. Ser=
ver is OS X Intel 10.5.6 Surgemail 4.0s-1 (but happened with all previous ve=
rsions of Surgemail 4.0x also). 
 
It fails by initially showing the progress with 0% but switches immediately =
to a red color error message (above). The only other anomaly was that FF 3.0=
..9 gave me an additional warning about Flash initially, although I've been u=
nable to repeat that, and have since made sure that Flash is updated to the =
latest version.
