No this is not normal. The virus database version it displays is the version=
it is actually running so it looks to me like you are running with an outda=
ted virus database. I am probably the best first person to help you with thi=
s as I wrote the surgemail integration to the avast libraries. When you get =
a reply from avast they will probably point you at the OEM integrator which =
is me...

Having said that, there a fair amount of "black magic" going on in terms of =
the underlying library that I have no idea on. Mostly avast on linux works f=
ine. Occasionally we have had trouble with the configuration not working or =
just stopping working after an update. On occasion I have even not been able=
to resolve the issues and end up deciding it is more trouble than it is wor=
th trying to get avast to run on a particular system.

I would suggest disabling the surgemail vpipe (you may need to restart surge=
mail, I'm not quite sure) and making sure that no av_avast processes are run=
ning any more. Then completely removing avast, and reinstalling from the dis=
tribution on netwinsite. It should certainly start with the older library yo=
u mention but the first update should get it fully up-to-date. Off the top o=
f my head you can try running "./av_avast -update" as well to see if that he=
lps.

Let me know how you go.

Marijn

Support,
A week back we 've renewed our surgemail and avast, but it looks we are hav=
ing issues with avast now. It always shows outdated database. Though it it =
also shows that upadates are successfull . So we are not sure whether it is=
really upating the database or not. We've sent a request last week (forwar=
ding it) to netwin, but up to now we didn't get any response back.
Please help to resolve the issue.

thanks,
Rudolf

Hi Stuart!
Good that you wrote. I was going to ask you some things

In your mail you talk about "trial avast" . BUT the package we subscribed t=
o and paid was SURGEMAIL+AVAST.
Can we clarify if our subscription is really for the pair or not?!

The other reason i'm worrying is AVAST's behavior. I dont see that it's =
really working. Here I will paste some outputs form my logs.
Some parts seems to be normal, but others show that avast is not functionin=
g.
Pls look through or let me know tech support address who can help me fix th=
is.
