Speaking of which, Netwin may want to investigate and remove
wl.trusted-forwarder.org from the recommended Surgemail settings as a
whitelist. At least for me, it’s not responding to any of my DNS servers and
was considerably slowing things down on Surgemail SMTP transactions until I
removed it.

Near the top is a section of response times from rbl's
sbl.spamhaus.org. 132 hits, 0.0sec
bl.spamcop.net. 899 hits, 0.1sec
bad.rbl.entry. 0 hits, 10.9 sec <---------------- (example)
dnsbl.sorbs.net 7734 hits, 0.2sec
list.dnswl.org 27847 hits, 0.0sec
Look for any with a response time of about 10 seconds, that's a sure sign
of a dead rbl that should be removed!

Hi Norma,
I had this kind of a problem and it was always problem with ORBS server.
To fix the problem I removed problematic ORBS server from list of ORBS
servers.
Search for ORBS server in mail.log with timeout.
Mostly the problem was solved a day after and then I entered that server
on ORBS list.
I hope this will point you in good direction.
