No other idea what causes it exactly, I only get to talk to the
client for this info, never have seen it first hand from the clients
    standpoint.

If you look at the Surgemail structure on windows, you see something
    like: (UNIX is similar structure)

    C:\surgemail\
mbox\1bad87.com\gc\ii\tmeyer\
mdir\
new

mbox is where Surgemail stores all the domains.

The folder mdir is the folder that holds the clients inbox, sent
    folder, etc.

In the mdir folder is a folder named new, this is the inbox folder.

When I have to fix one of these situations, I just copy over the
folders that got crunched. I usually copy emails from backup
 new
folder to the Surgemail new folder so I don't delete any recent
emails that may have come in.

That’s a good point. I’ll check to make
sure that one of the clients wasn’t setup as POP.

Do you have any idea other than moving folders that would
          cause email to disappear?

I ended up resending mail from our barracuda server instead of
          recovering the mailbox.

I haven’t recovered a mailbox before. Do I just copy over the
backup files to the directory where the mail is stored?

          Thanks,
          Georgi

         Georgi,

I have seen this happen from Outlook, Surgeweb and from
mobile devices. I don't think the device is the problem. I
think, but not sure, it usually happens when someone is
moving folders, and they don't quite get it moved properly.

I did have one person I chased this with for a couple of
weeks, and found out they had an email client at home
            grabbing things thru POP.

              email disappeared Hi,

Is it best to have the user update folders for the email
client through like apple mail instead of the mobile
              client?

               Thanks,
               Georgi

             Georgi,

I have run into this before. It always happens when
the client is playing with folders.

I just go to my backup and restore that persons
                folder.

                  Hope this helps.

             IMAP user email disappeared Hi
                  All,

I have an IMAP user with email setup on an iPhone,
iPad, and Apple client. She created a bunch of new
folders on her iPhone last night and when she came in
                  her inbox was empty.

Has anyone experience this type of issue before? How
do I retrieve the email without restoring everything
                  from backup?

                    Thanks,
                    Georgi
