The point of the feature is to lockout robots guessing 'accounts' so locking out a single account would have almost no benefit as the robot would be trying many different accounts.   If you could quote the actual error people are seeing I'd like to double check it is not triggering on the wrong thing which may be the real problem, or it may be that the setting in question is one you don't really need so It would be good to confirm that.

Yes this is useful information, quite interesting in fact. Would be cool if we could get some sort of feature to unlock only specific entries instead of clearing all of the lockouts.

 

Like I said with us we have many different locations that have many natted people so they look like they are coming from a single IP. If one of them screws up it locks out everyone behind that IP. That is why I was hoping it could be sort of locking out only combinations of IP and user accounts.

 

Maybe a new feature can be to set up a list of certain subnets to only lockout the user and not the IP.

Because sometimes NAT sucks and we have no choice because of IP limitations this is only going to get worse until ipv6.

Is there some sort of report or status section that shows me

where IP's or accounts are temporary locked out? There really

should be one, with a way of "unlocking" them maybe with a

button. Seems the only way to reset the counter is to restart the

mail server. Another issue I'm bumping into is that some of my

customers are natted quite a bit behind a public IP so its

blocking out the entire IP. Isn't there an IP exemption list for

blocking out IP's? I just haven't found the setting yet. For some

internal IP subnets I'd rather have it just block it out via

account instead of IP.
